The Jaunpils Castle crusaders built in 1301, and its ancient appearance has remained in place to the present day.  The ancient walls offer leisure in Medieval apartments and modern rooms, along with event halls and tours led by characters from the castle’s history.  A Medieval saloon welcomes guests every day.  This is such a romantic place, because the castle is 700 years old.

Medieval meals are combined with traditional Latvian cuisine on the tavern’s daily menu. Medieval meals are eaten with hands or wooden spoons.

Located on the steep bluff seaside of the Baltic Sea. The seasonal menu mostly focuses on local fish and lamprey. You can also taste freshly baked carrot pies (žograuši) here.

Skrunda Manor is located on the bank of the River Venta, on the side of the Riga-Liepāja highway. The manor restaurant uses products grown in Latvia and produced by local farmers, offering its guests to taste original local dishes, such as carp croquettes with homemade rhubarb mayonnaise, pork belly with birch leaf syrup and celery, and a selection of ice cream made in the manor.

Tourists can learn about the history of the estate and the brewing of beer, beginning with raw materials and ending with finished products. The visit is enriched by tastings of live beer and stories about Latvia’s traditional holiday beverage. Alongside the brewery is a store which sells live beer, homemade goodies and selected souvenirs.

The “Valmiermuižas alus virtuve” saloon popularises Latvian beers and uses beer in various dishes. A modern approach to homemade products is used to prepare foods and beer-based snacks. There is a beer garden during the summer, and the saloon merges traditional things with modern ones.

Latvian cuisine: Smoked pork, filet of pike from Lake Burtnieks, green pea mash, with loganberries, quince, pumpkin birch juice and mushroom sauce as accompaniments.

Small manor brewery near Valmiera where live beer is slowly brewed. The granary of the manor house offers a Beer Boutique and Valmiermuiža Beer Kitchen, allowing guests to discover how to pair beers with various foods. The restaurant is on the banks of Lake Valgums and at an historical location where the Soviet Union had a base for government leaders. Today this is a lovely place for active or calm recreation. Elegant dishes are offered in the glass room, and soup is cooked on a campfire.

Opened on June 21, 2011, at the 51st kilometre of the Tallinn-Riga highway, the MEKE KROGS pub is a typical example of the roadside pubs which used to be built along the sides of roads and near homesteads, castles, mills and windmills. This particular one is located into renovated cattle shed that is more than 100 years old – a lovely log building that is named after the former baron of the local estate, von Mecke. Alongside it is the handsome parish building which was erected in 1907 with red bricks from Tūja.

The restaurant is situated in Skulte district – 8 km away from Saulkrasti, in the direction of Minhauzen Museum. It is on a steep cliff alongside the sea, with a lovely view of the sea from the summer terrace during sunsets. The restaurant works with local fishermen, and the restaurant’s menu consists mostly of high quality local Baltic sea fish.

Ēdole Castle is a unique historical building, as it is the only castle of the Bishopric of Courland that is still inhabited. The “Pilskrogs” café of Ēdole Castle offers a variety of original dishes, giving preference to ingredients purchased from local farmers and producers, as well as mushroom and berry pickers during the season. 

Food is prepared according to recipes from Livonian times, using products and spices characteristic to this historical period, for example, Roast chicken with white wine sauce (13th century recipe).

The "Pastnieka maja" restaurant is an old restored building in Old Liepāja. Legend has it that a postal carrier named Arvīds used to live there, and the building has been praised for its interior design. The menu offers an attractive look at the life of Arvīds, and it is up to you to believe or disbelieve those stories.

Located in the centre of Dikļi, the 1896 castle was renovated into a four-star hotel in 2003. The castle offers a look at antique furnishings, fireplaces and ovens, as well as paintings by Latvian artists. Two restaurants (summer and winter) offer fine dining and an individualised approach. The castle works with local farms.
