The Osenieki biological farmThis biological farm (Bio 05-049-2008) grows berries such as strawberries and summer and autumn raspberries, as well as vegetables and grains. Visitors can pick and eat berries and look at the garden. The owners also breed cattle and have a store at which biological vegetables and fruits from the farm itself and from others can be bought. During the hay season during the summer visitors can spend the night in bales of hay.

The farm is in the Krimūni Parish in the heart of the historical region of Zemgale. It was established in 1991 by the parents of the current owner, Arnis Burmistrs. Today the farm specialises in grain farming on ~2,200 ha of land. The farm uses precise agricultural methods to save money and preserve the environment and human health. It is actively involved in EU-financed projects, has a modern set of agricultural equipment, and has installed a local meteorological facility. Tours are available. |

The farm makes active use of EU funding, some of which has been used to buy modern agricultural equipment. Owner Juris Lazdiņš is the chairman of the largest non-governmental organisations in the field of agriculture, and by contacting him in advance, agriculture experts and future experts can go there to exchange experiences. JoziThe Joži farm is along the side of the Jaunpils-Viesata road in Jaunpils. It is one of the largest grain farms in Latvia (winter and summer grains, as well as rapeseed), and it was established in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Today the farm has 14 grain silos and is reconstructing its grain drying facility. The farm has some 5,000 ha of land and state-of-the-art farm equipment. Owners Gunvaldis and Guna Sproģis have been actively involved in various EU projects and have won various competitions such as the "Sower" competition. |

RozlejasThe Rožlejas farm is in the Džūkste Parish of the Tukums Administrative District, where the Eastern Courlandian highlands interact with the Heath lowlands. The parents of the current owner, Jānis Ukše, began work there in 1989, establishing a natural farm to grow sugar beets and then also wheat. Thanks to thoughtful farming, Rožlejas has, over the past quarter-century, turned into one of the largest grain farms in Western Latvia. The owners have taken active part in EU projects to purchase modern equipment and to build hangars for the storage of grain and equipment. The farm specialises in winter barley and winter wheat, using ~1,200 ha of land for that purpose. |

Established in 1999, the farm specialises in dairy farming with more than 300 cows and an equal number of calves. It is also a grain farm, with more than 400 ha of land for winter and summer crops, rapeseed and corn. Farming waste is used for a modern biogas plant that provides energy for the farm. The owners actively make use of EU projects, one of which allowed it to build a cattle shed for more than 400 animals and a cow milking carousel. |
