If you're a fan of a green and healthy lifestyle, nature and the countryside environment, then "Green Holidays" will be just for you! Look for the countryside accommodations, open farms and eating places which have received the "Green Certificate". That means that everything has been carefully considered to make sure that management of the facilities is environment friendly while ensuring comfort and amenities for guests. These buildings are in clean and orderly rural environments, and their owners have tended well to the surrounding landscape. Many of these are traditional family farms, with buildings made of and filled with materials that are natural and do not harm people's health - timber, rocks and bricks, reed roofs, as well as modern materials which reduce the likelihood of allergies. Interior design in these buildings also is based on environmentally friendly paints and other finishing elements. Cleaning and laundry substances are also ones with ecological certification. Smoking is not permitted in any of the facilities. Many of the "Green Certificate" holders offer home-grown and locally grown food to guests, and there are various open-air activities available such as bicycling, hiking and animal watching. Some facilities are appropriate for children, with playgrounds, pets and amenities for families with very small children. Many of the guest houses offer traditional saunas. The hosts can tell you interesting things about their surroundings.

Hotel MEKE was opened in 2016. It was established in the premises of Dunte School, built in 1867.

The old wooden building has 8 well-equipped guest rooms with preserved historical elements, recreation and seminar rooms.

Indani – a farm

Caunites

This Latvian tradition farmstead, located 12 km from Jelgava, offers to learn about ancient bread baking traditions, Latvian annual festivals, and various types of handicrafts, such as weaving and making puzuri decorations and beeswax candles. The house is designed and decorated in the traditional Latvian style and exudes an authentic ambience while having modern facilities. The heart of the farmstead is a barn with a bread baking stove. The hosts bake rye sourdough bread from “Dobeles dzirnavnieks” flour and the traditional salinātā rye bread from “Grauda spēks” flour. Salinātā rye bread is registered in the EU food quality scheme as a product with traditional speciality guaranteed.

LIELBORNES MUIZA

Lielborne Manor is a manor complex in the territory of the Nature Park “Daugavas loki”. In Lielborne there is an old park built on terraces, a 2 km long embossed walking trail, a mill pond and a waterfall. Horse farm KLAJUMI

Klajumi is situated among picturesque surroundings of Daugavas Loki Nature park and offers accommodation in 3 cottages. Guests can enjoy horse riding facilities. The property is located 2 km from Kaplava village and 5 km from the Latvian – Belarusian border. The town of Krāslava is 10 km away.

"Klajumi" holiday house. On the first floor of the holiday house there is a kitchen with fireplace, dishes and other tools necessary for cooking and eating, herbal tea and instant coffee, a fridge, radio and CD player, shower and sauna. On the second floor and in the attic there are bedrooms. Next to the cottage there is a dry toilet.

"Klajumu Ķemeri" holiday house. Wooden log house with a kitchen, a bedroom, WC and shower.

"Klajumu Ganiņi" holiday house. Two rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom. House is suitable for people with disabilities.

The farm offers horseback rides (breeds of Latvia, Lithuania and Byelorussia) using roads through neighbourhood forests down to the borderland of Byelorussia, acquainting the guests with the unique landscape of banks of the Daugava River, fauna and flora. In the neighbourhood of „Klajumi” there is a trekking path marked by calorific marks on the trees, but nearby the farm there is created „Odu taka” (Mosquito path) equipped with informative stands on environment of the surroundings.

Jaunlidumnieki

The holiday house "Jaunlīdumnieki" is located on the steep bank of the Suda River, with beautiful views of the river. The proximity of the river allows you to enjoy a variety of entertainment in the vicinity of the water - swimming in a well-equipped swimming place, fishing, boat rental - kayaks, canoes, SUP board.

A living room with a fireplace and a kitchen corner is on the first floor of the holiday home, on the 2nd floor there is a bedroom with a comfortable double bed and 2 pull-out sofas. There is also a sauna with an electric oven in the house, a sauna ritual with an experienced person is offered. There are 2 separate rooms for a toilet and a shower.

The Skrunda Estate

Skrunda Manor is located on the bank of the River Venta, on the side of the Riga-Liepāja highway. It is a hotel with 12 comfortable rooms, banquet halls, and conference rooms. The manor restaurant uses products grown in Latvia and produced by local farmers, offering its guests to taste original local dishes, such as carp croquettes with homemade rhubarb mayonnaise, pork belly with birch leaf syrup and celery, and a selection of ice cream made in the manor.
