Ungurmuiža is one of the most outstanding examples of 18th century Baroque wooden buildings in Latvia. The mansion (1732) is the only building of its kind from the early 18th century to have survived. On the second floor of the building are unique an restored wall paintings produced between 1750 and 1756 by G.D. Nisch. Each August the estate hosts a celebration of the music of Franz and Robert Schumann, as well as Frederick Chopin.
