The Latvian country tourism association Lauku Celotajs as project beneficiary of the Interreg Central Baltic project "Exporting Baltic Nature Tourism to UK - NAT-TOUR-EXPO" - participates as host organisation in the Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) initiative.
Promoted by the European Union and the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), the Interreg Volunteer Youth initiative is a programme that enables programmes and projects of European Territorial Cooperation to host volunteers to support cooperation.
IVY host organisations are representatives of Interreg, IPA-CBC and ENI-CBC/Interreg NEXT programmes or project beneficiaries who host IVY volunteers and mentor them in the field of European Territorial Cooperation.
Host organisations empower young people to engage in cooperation by involving new generations in communication and project implementation.
By integrating volunteers to contribute with new ideas and including young people's perspectives in their work, host organisations make the benefits of cooperation more visible among local communities and beyond.
The Association of European Border Regions and the European Commission are therefore grateful to each host organisation that embarks on this adventure and hosts a volunteer within the framework of the Interreg Volunteer Youth initiative.
